Adult Basic Life Support (BLS) Algorithm

If you see someone:

UNRESPONSIVE: “The person doesn’t respond, even if you tap him or her hard on the shoulders, or ask loudly if he or she is OK. The person doesn’t move, speak, blink or otherwise react.”

&

Without breathing or No normal breathing (only gasping)?

NO BREATHING
CALL FOR EMERGENCIES

CALL for HELP around you ! & CALL the EMERGENCIES!

BE SURE YOU ARE SAFE and then Start CPR immediately

PUSH HARD, PUSH FAST

Compressions

At least 100-120/min (if you are waiting for help or don’t know how to do the steps 2 & 3, just do the compressions )

Defibrillate

Follow the AED assistance to check rythm / shock

Repeat every 2 min

Provide 2 consecutive rescue breaths lasting
1 second for every 30 compressions

Continue administering CPR until EMS arrival.

 

 AED = Automated External Defibrillator

BLS = Basic Life Support

CPR = Cardio-Pulmonary Rescucitation

EMS = Emergency Medical Service
